Get Your Car Ready For Summer!
We don’t consider the impact of the scorching summer heat on our cars. Most of us assume that the outside temperature has nothing to do with the car. Honestly, that’s not true. Yes, the vehicles are tested in extreme climate conditions to ensure that perform under various conditions, but sometimes, those testing conditions are not the same.
Summers, especially in UAE, can be a lot more brutal for your car than winters. Since the summer season is near, you must keep your vehicle and yourself ready for any journeys that you plan. [Note: The tips are powered by the trusted Honda Service Dubai Center, United Arab Emirates]
Car’s Cooling System
Check the radiator for any clogged cooling tubes. If any of the vines are choked, then the engine is ought to overheat and suffer a stroke. The cooling tubes act like veins for the car’s coolant to run throughout the system. One standout symptom of this issue is when the engine gets heated up beyond its reasonable limit at maintained high speeds.
Visually check the hoses and belts which are connected to the cooling system. Make sure all the hoses are tight and look for small cracks in the rubber of the belt. Check the latter by grabbing the tube which is near to the clamp and please ensure that it doesn’t rotate.
Top-up the coolant
You may think, do we need anti-freeze in summers? Well, yes, it’s a game of pure chemistry. Mix two liquids and the boiling temperature shoots up for the product. That result is welcomed thanks to the extreme temperatures in our country.
Check whether the cooling fan is performing as it is supposed to be. When the temperature of the coolant increases a predefined threshold, it turns on. The fan and the hood both should be working. Only by turning on your air conditioning, you can check whether it is working correctly. If it’s not, get it checked. Or maybe your car’s coolant temperature sensor is faulty. Engine, Brake and Transmission Fluids:
With the temperatures quickly crossing the 40-degree mark in most of the country, the brake, transmission and engine can use all the lubrication that they can get. It is hugely recommended that these are topped-up and checked for any leakages before you set off on your journey. In the case of transmission fluid, do ensure that it doesn’t have any unwanted residue and it’s clean. Even the tiny piece of dirt can create a recipe for the failure for the gearbox.
Check Air Conditioning System:
Driving with a faulty air conditioning system can be annoying in summers. Before summer, get a top-up for refrigerant gas, or the AC checked for any leakages. Ask the mechanic to check your car compressor’s health like how much well or unwell it is. All of this is for your car but you, as a driver, need to note of a few things as well.
Pack the right stuff. Carrying the extra load, which you won’t be using during your trip should be tossed out before you begin. This not only overcomes the pressure on the car’s engine. But it also helps in returning better fuel economy.
Drive a car at cruising speed. It doesn’t mean you should break the enforced speed limits. It means you should try and change gears at lower rpm and avoid working the engine beyond its comfort-range.
Always plan your route wisely. You should work out the best way possible whenever you are heading out for a long journey. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the shortest one. Mainly, it should be the best possible combination of all things, as the availability of fuel-stations and rest stops.
Take regular rest stops. This again holds for long journeys. If you stop for 30 minutes to stretch your legs and gulp a pint of caffeine, it would help you to concentrate at your driving much better. The proper solid list can keep you and your car healthy during those searing summer days. Everything revolves around one basic mantra – that you take of your vehicle, and your vehicle takes care of you!
